14.12.2009
1 July next year marks the starting point for the Danish electric car expedition ‘Charge to Change’ that plans to travel the world in three electric cars. The expedition, which collaborates with the Danish Pavilion, was presented to the public during Copenhagen Municipality’s electric car parade on the Town Hall Square on Sunday.
It is the first expedition ever to drive around the world in electric cars run on fuel cells and one of the highlights of the eight-month-long journey will be when the cars arrive at EXPO 2010 in Shanghai in October next year.
The purpose of the expedition is to pave the way for electric cars and renewable energy and to show that it is possible to drive long distances in environmentally friendly electric cars.
The cars will drive 36.000 kilometres through countries such as Russia, Mongolia, USA and China and behind the initiative are the authors and adventurers Hjalte Tin and Nina Rasmussen. During the trip, different important people, experts and sponsors will drive along and the expedition will also stop by the international auto show in Detroit and Monte Carlo Rally for alternative cars.
